Accreditation Board:
The Institute of Registered Veterinary and Animal Physiotherapists (IRVAP) has set up an accreditation service for courses in rehabilitation techniques. The Accreditation Board consists of Veterinary Surgeons, Chartered Physiotherapists, Veterinary Physiotherapists, Registered Veterinary Nurses, Chartered Clinical Scientists and Education Specialists.
This non-profit making service will ensure courses accredited by the board meet certain standards of education and delivery and form a quality control body for continued monitoring and examinations.
This service is aimed at short courses for CPD approval, certificated distance learning courses and longer courses run at approved establishments. The level of examination can be at equivalence to BTEC Level 3 to Level 7.
The following is a guide for the accreditation equivalence levels.
- Level 3 ONC/OND, GCE 'A' Level
- Level 4 HNC/HND, Open University (OU) Level 1 credits, Modules leading to credits for final award
- Level 5 First Degree (unclassified), OU Level 2 Modules
- Level 6 First Degree with Honours, OU Level 3 Modules, Advanced Certificate
- Level 7 Master's Degree, PGCE, Modules leading to qualification
To gain IRVAP Accreditation Board approval, courses will have to meet certain objectives and standards of delivery and, if approved, can carry the IRVAP Seal of Approval on course documentation and certificates.
