Patrons of the Institute of Registered Veterinary and Animal Physiotherapists:

The council of IRVAP is pleased to have the following people as patrons. They have pledged their support to the activities of IRVAP and its teaching wing, Canine and Equine Physiotherapy Training.

Mrs Sandy Phillips

Sandy has competed successfully in both dressage and eventing, including World Championships and the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games. At the 1981 Badminton Horse Trials Sandy finished in second place.

She was a member of the winning British Nations Cup Team at Hickstead CDIO in 1996, and was selected as first reserve for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta .

Sandy Phillips became national dressage champion for the first time at the 2006 Blue Waters National Dressage Championships at Stoneleigh Park , Warwickshire. Sandy, riding Lara 106, who also represented Britain at the recent World Equestrian Games, won the grand prix and finished second in the grand prix freestyle.

Mr David Broome CBE

David won the European championships in 1961, 1967, and 1969, individual Olympic bronze medals in 1960 and 1968, the latter on his best-known horse Mr Softee. In 1960 he was also voted BBC Sports Personality of the Year. He won the World individual championship in 1970, and in the same year was Western Mail Welsh Sports Personality of the year. In 1978 he was part of the world championship winning British team. He turned professional in 1973. David Broome has won the King George V Gold Cup a record six times on six different horses between 1960 - 1991, a record yet to be equaled. He has enjoyed most of his success on Irish Sport Horses and he has said his favourite horse of all was Sportsman.

David Broome is still active in the administration of the sport.
